Introduction:
-------------

H.E.L.D. Captive is a remake of the classic H.E.R.O. game, originally released on the Atari 2600 and then ported to several other platforms.
Development has halted for H.E.L.D., so I decided to release the current version at least.

Navigate your hero around narrow mine shafts to rescue the trapped mine workers before time runs out. Use your dynamite or laser to blow up walls.

Controls:
---------

left/right/up/down - moves the hero
down while standing - drops dynamite/mine
space - fires laser

Debug keys:

1 - switch to dynamite
2 - switch to mine
3 - replenishes energy and lives
4 - skips current level

Known bugs:
-----------

- controls are still imperfect (they don't "feel" right)
- only two enemies are included
- troubles with collision detection / too narrow shafts
- level 20 has graphics bugs
- moving lava walls and floats not included yet
- sound effects ripped from Atari 2600 version
- energy and remaining dynamite isn't counted at end of level yet
- and much more probably ...

Closing statement:
------------------

I would like to express my thanks to everyone involved in the project, it is very unfortunate that it didn't work out due to the usual problems (time, commercial work, studying etc). But there is still hope that this project might get finished one day, so stay tuned.
